Wantage and Faringdon Market Town Co-ordinators

Market town coordinators have been appointed in Wantage and Faringdon after the Vale of White Horse District Council provided £40,000 per town to help boost the local economy.

Mim Norvell had been appointed in Wantage, with support from Iain Nicholson, and Bethia Thomas has been appointed in Faringdon.

The roles are being supported by a £40,000 award from the Vale.  The money will be allocated over a two year period to help the towns achieve a range of actions to improve the visitor experience and bring more people to the area.

The co-ordinators in both towns will work towards projects set out in the annual action plans, which draws upon information gathered by the Vale’s economic development team throughout the year, using events, group meetings, and individual discussions with partners to identify projects that will deliver significant economic benefit.  You can view the Faringdon and Wantage 2016/17 action plans here.

The work to promote and revitalise the towns is overseen by Town Teams in each town, made up of representatives from the district, town and county council, as well as from local business groups.
