Innovative Local Businesses win Queen’s Awards

The 2019 winners of The Queen’s Awards were revealed this week with a number of businesses within the Vale of White Horse.

Queen’s Awards for Innovation was awarded to Oxford Instruments.

Based in Tubney, the company is considered as technology leader in the very competitive field of scientific instrumentation. The company enables investigations in the area of Energy Storage (lithium ion batteries), and the capability to identify materials at very high spatial resolution, which is critical for research in the fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology, advanced materials and semi conductors.

Queen’s Awards for International Trade was awarded to Oxford Technologies Ltd and Oxford Pharagenesis.

Oxford Technologies Ltd is based in Abingdon and Harwell Campus the company solves remote handling problems in fission decommissioning, high energy physics, and developing sectors. 

Oxford Technologies now trades as Veolia Nuclear Solutions UK (VNS-UK). In just three years the company is leading a UK consortium of companies in the Fukushima decommissioning programme. Their overseas sales have grown by 469% and the percentage exported is now 84%. The company won the Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the last three years.

Oxford Pharagenesis, based in Tubney, provide health science communications services to the healthcare industry.

Oxford PharmaGenesis Ltd wins the Queen’s Award for International Trade for Outstanding Short Term Growth in overseas sales over the last three years. Their overseas sales have grown year on year over three years by a total of 47% and these sales have accounted for over 70% of the company’s total business.
