Who can apply for the awards?
All 8 awards have different criteria for entries, so we advise reviewing criteria and picking the best fit for your business. Criteria is available on each application form and awards page.

Do businesses apply direct, or can they be nominated?
We encourage businesses to apply direct for awards, however members of the public are also able to nominate their favourite businesses with our nomination form (your business will be approached to fill out an application in this case).
What is the deadline for applying / nominating?
Award applications open on 31 October and close at Midnight on 18 January. Finalists will be announced at a special event at Abingdon’s new Hilton Garden Inn on 1 February.
Who judges the awards?
Our judging panel is made up of representatives from our sponsors and South and Vale’s Cabinet Members for Economic Development.
How are entries judged?
Each application is scored against a judging matrix based on 6 themes,:
Each category has a total of 20 points available. The highest scoring applications in each category make the final.
Judges visit or call each finalist to further qualify the entries. Visits will take place in the first two weeks of February.
What about conflict of interest?
Where judges declare a conflict of interest they are not able to participate in judging the relevant category. This may apply if a business is a competitor, client or otherwise have a relationship.
Can I buy tickets for the awards ceremony at Williams?
Awards sponsors and finalists receive a number of complimentary tickets for the awards ceremony at Williams on 15 March 2019. They also receive first refusal on purchasing remaining tickets.
Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the business community through the Vale4Business website in early 2019.
