The Vale4Business board is made up of Vale4Business Ambassadors, the Leader of the Vale Council, and the Vale Council’s economic development manager.

Vale Ambassadors are responsible for:

  • Representing local business, key sectors and towns.
  • Advising the Vale Council of the opportunities, challenges and game changers
    for businesses.
  • Being featured in press releases, on our website and helping to promote the
    district’s success stories.
  • Speaking at V4B business forums and workshops
  • Mentoring, advising and networking with local businesses

V4B Ambassadors

David Williams, Partner, Bidwells

David is a Partner in the commercial property team at Bidwells in Oxford, leading the team responsible for delivering over 1.5m sq ft of new commercial and laboratory buildings in Oxfordshire.  Current projects include the Harwell Campus, Oxford Technology Park, Bicester Gateway, Grange Court at Abingdon Science Park, Grove Business Park in Wantage, the Oxpens redevelopment in Oxford and North West Bicester eco town.

David has worked in Oxfordshire’s commercial property market since the late 1980’s, during which time he has worked with many growing businesses and owners of business and science parks, from which he has gained a deep understanding of the drivers behind Oxfordshire’s economy.

David also jointly leads the Science and Technology division of Bidwells, responsible for advising on over 10m sq ft on science campuses across the south east, including the Cambridge Science Park.

David was co-founder in 2006 of the commercial property and planning company which merged with Bidwells in 2015, and has also been a past President of the Abingdon and District Chamber of Commerce.

 

Paulette Elliott, Managing Director, Huduma Ltd

In 2011 Paulette Elliott started Huduma Limited, a young and ambitious emerging technology consultancy based at Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire.  Huduma provides collaborative commercial support for businesses and project consortiums who are looking to take their innovative products and services to market.  Current emerging technologies projects include: remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS)/commercial drones for parcel delivery; connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV)/driverless cars; and Internet of Things (IoT) for smart cities and connected living.

With over 25 years in the IT and Telecommunications.  Business experience in service operations, vendor and supplier management, and hands-on technical project management delivering hi-tech global projects in APAC, EMEA, Americas, Paulette knows that having a great innovation is not always a guarantee of commercial success. That’s why she is keen to work in collaboration with businesses to ensure that emerging technologies are supported by solid operational plans and service strategies. From helping businesses to identify and exploit new opportunities in the market, connecting with end users and providing hands-on commercial guidance and support, to helping turn big ideas into commercial successes, Paulette has a wealth of specialist experience to offer as a Vale4Business Ambassador.

 

Steve Head, Director, Shush Ltd

Steve Head is the owner of SHUSH the entertainment venue in Wantage. The venue was a former cinema which has been converted into one of South Oxfordshire’s busiest venues hosting club nights, private parties and nights for adults with learning difficulties nights amongst many more.

In starting SHUSH, Steve overcame many challenges, establishing a successful business in one of the UK’s most regulated industries. This involved working with the Police, local council, licensing authorities and the general public.

Prior to this, Steve managed Grove Technology Park for 19 years. It was purchased out of receivership in 1996 and was turned into a thriving Business Park employing over 500 people. His responsibilities included lease negotiations, sales of land and buildings, park service charges management, tenant meetings along with managing the staff to operate the Park.

SHUSH has broadened his skill set to include marketing, social media, event management and public interaction. The wealth of experience gained during the last 25 years places Steve in a great position to be a V4B Ambassador, offering valuable knowledge to offer anyone looking to be involved in the local hospitality, leisure and evening economy.

 

 

Sarah Allen-StevensSarah Allen-Stevens, Managing Director, Wicklesham Commercial Properties

Sarah Allen-Stevens started Wicklesham Commercial Properties Ltd 16 years ago. The company owns and manages a business centre on the outskirts of Faringdon, Oxfordshire hosting a number of small and medium sized enterprises in converted, traditional barns.  Sarah’s background was in the mobile phone industry where she worked as a consultant to mobile phone operators from emerging economies in developing their networks and as a lobbyist to the European Commission. 

Sarah’s heart lies within the development of the rural economy and the growth of SME’s.  She currently a member of Oxfordshire Business Parks Managers Forum and treasurer and committee member of Faringdon and District Chamber of Commerce.

 

Belinda Elliot, Managing Director, Bluestream Recruitment

Belinda became the driving force behind Bluestream Recruitment in 2008 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. As owner / managing director she is dedicated and determined not to be ‘just another’ recruitment agency. Belinda relocated Bluestream Recruitment to Harwell Science Campus in February 2011. Situated perfectly between exciting ‘start up’ and large established businesses, we supply Aerospace/ Engineering, IT/Technical, Office Support, and Sales & Marketing professionals from graduate through to senior management level. Bluestream Recruitment work with candidates from around the UK and Europe, with many relocating locally.

Belinda has over 20 years’ experience in recruitment, from both agency and client side. She is passionate about her local community and inspiring the next generation to the exciting possibilities in the area, including apprenticeships.  Belinda is Chairperson for the annual ‘Family Fun Day’ at Harwell (with over 3,000 visitors and growing), and has just become an Enterprise Adviser working with King Alfred’s Academy in Wantage.

With a wealth of experience in ever changing and challenging economic times Belinda is looking forward to supporting businesses across the Vale as a V4B Ambassador. With a passion for recruitment, and experience supporting growing businesses, Belinda is able to offer practical and valuable support.
